Kerala: A plea has been filed before the Kerala High Court by the mother of a 12-year-old girl studying in 8th standard alleging that her daughter was used as a “drug carrier” by drug mafia and seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the issue. [xxx v State of Kerala & Ors.].
The plea said that the 12-year-old girl’s involvement with drug trade came to light when the petitioner was called to the girl’s school after she was supposedly found in the school washroom in an inebriated state with fully wet uniform.
“The teachers informed the petitioner that her daughter was found in the school washroom in an inebriated state with her uniform fully wet. When asked, the child told them that someone made her smell white powder and that she vomited four times,” the plea said.
But none of them informed the matter either to the police or to childline, the plea further said.
When they got back home, the child disclosed complete details to her mother after lot of persuasion.
As per the same, the child was first introduced to drugs by a fellow student during Kabbadi practice.
“At the beginning of October 2022, the child was lured into drugs by a girl student of 9th standard with biscuits containing drugs during the kabaddi practice. Then another girl student of plus one too befriended the child and started giving them MDMA. They introduced the child to an outsider girl and then to Adhinan. Once the child became completely addicted to drugs they took her along with the other two girls to Thalassery and Mahi for drug transport. There she was introduced to another man of the racket Ramnas. She was taught to make blade-cut injuries on the wrist to put MDMA for intoxication. The mafia used to put identity marks on her toe finger hallux during trafficking. She was beaten up and threatened with death,” the plea said.
Thereafter, while the girl was travelling with petitioner and other relatives, she spotted Ramnas in front of the school after which her brother-in-law restrained Ramnas and intimated the same to the police.
The plea further submitted that at the police station, the child explained the entire incident to the police and lodged a complaint
Adhinan was subsequently summoned to the police station and even though he was questioned by the police, they subsequently colluded with him and recorded a false statement limited to the allegation that he touched the girl’s hand.
Adhinan is an influential person since he is a politician belonging to Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) , and his father is also an influential leader of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the plea alleged.
The petitioner also said that the girl and her family are being subject to witch-hunt by the teachers of the school and others for reporting the crime.
She further contended that the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Viyanan allegedly made statements exonerating the accused during a debate in the Kerala Legislative Assembly, terming the media reports of the drug mafia case fake.
The petition was filed through represented by advocates A Rajasimhan, Vykhari KU, and Sharafudheen MK.
