Karnatka: A team of Karnataka High Court judges won the third edition of the South Zone Cricket Fraternity Cup, conducted at the Krishnagiri Stadium in Wayanad, Kerala.

The Karnataka High Court judges beat the team from the Kerala High Court in the final by a margin of 20 runs.

Justice R Devdas of the Karnataka High Court was awarded Man of the Final and Best Bowler of the tournament. Justice Sachin Shankar Magadum of the Karnataka High Court was adjudged Best Batsman, while Justice Abdul Quddhose of the Madras High Court was named Player of the Tournament.

Teams from all four High Courts of the South – Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madras – participated in the tournament conducted on February 18 and 19.

This two-day tournament was organized by Justice Mohammad Mustaque of the Kerala High Court, Justice DVSS Somayajulu of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Justice PT Asha of the Madras High Court, Justice Laxman Konnuru of the Telangana High Court and Justice Suraj Govindaraj of the Karnataka High Court.

Justice MM Sundresh of the Supreme Court was the Chief Guest of the event. During his address, he said,

“As judges, we tend to keep away from other persons. All the more reason, I believe, that we should be communicating with each other. This is a step in the right direction. Sports connects all of us, which we have witnessed today. I only wish that this tournament should continue year after year…

.Before you finalise the calendar, please consult each other and make sure you have two days to get together. Do make it a family event, because like judges, their spouses and children sacrifice a lot.”
